In the past 26 years, Thomas has become one of the most recognizable and sought after personal hair stylists in the Lehigh Valley.
"I know my clients," he says about the hundreds of women, men, and kids who undergo what he refers to as transformations that go far beyond physical appearance.
Referred to by local media as the "Hair Doctor" and "Curly Hair Expert", Thomas creates special bonds with clients who have remained loyal since he opened the doors of Avant Garde in the historic Fogelsville Post Office Building in October 2006.
"I saw a For Rent sign in the post office, did my homework, and realized there wasn't any upscale salon in the area." Thomas designed and built Avant Garde creating a warm and inviting European ambience right down to the Italian, freestanding, adjustable sinks.

Thomas has been celebrated for his "WOW" work in the pages of Lehigh Valley magazine, The Morning Call, and even rubbed elbows with Tabatha, star of Bravo TV's hit series "Tabatha's Salon Takeover."

Clients appreciate the quiet, European-inspired atmosphere of the salon decorated in Tuscan hues reminiscent of rolling countryside and vineyards. "There's no hustle, there's no bustle, there's no drama," explains Thomas. "My clients get an abundance of personal attention."
After earning his cosmetology license in 1997, Thomas continued to take learning seriously and attends regular continuing education sessions along the Eastern seaboard to stay up to date on technique, style, and trends. "It's important that I keep educating myself," he says, "so each of my clients has her/his own look. Eeveryone's got their own special formula!"
